FlyHugz® was born from a single stubborn problem on a long-haul flight — and from refusing to believe that “travel pillows simply don’t work.”
A head that refused to stay put
John was always in the air — red-eyes, layovers, one trip straight into the next. Every U-shaped pillow he bought failed the same way: the second he dozed off, his head tipped forward or to the side, and he woke with a jolt and a stiff, sore neck.
“More foam was never the answer. I needed something that would truly keep my head in place.”
So he began sketching another approach: not an open “U” that lets your head drop, but a complete 360° wrap that softly locks it upright, the way a hug holds you.
The 360° head-lock wrap
Dozens of prototypes later, the FlyHugz® design took shape: a closed, wrap-around pillow that holds your neck from every direction so your head can’t flop, paired with a built-in eye mask and earplugs so you can shut the world out entirely.
The first travelers who tested it described exactly what John had felt on that first real flight with it: they genuinely slept, and landed feeling human again. Word travelled fast, and FlyHugz® went from one frustrating flight to a brand loved by more than a million travelers around the world.
The designer behind the Leopard Edition
Chelsey came on board as co-founder with a single obsession: travel gear should feel as good as it looks. She spent months on the new Leopard Edition pillow and its matching sleep mask — trying fabric after fabric, fine-tuning the scale of the print, and dialling in a soft-touch finish that photographs beautifully and feels even better at 35,000 feet.
